The advent of the digital tachograph has provided the ability to collect a large amount of driver and vehicle data. For legal purposes, this can be downloaded only by the vehicle operator physically interrogating the Vehicle Unit (VU). Recent changes in legislation have allowed remote collection of this data. In conjunction with our partner, TouchStar is at the forefront of delivering this capability. Data will be transferred to the back office and also be made available online. This provides obvious operational advantages when compared with the use of smart cards for data extraction to external data storage devices.
