TouchStar release shock absorbing TouchPC Hawk III for the oil and gas sector
Manchester, UK – 13th October, 2015: TouchStar Technologies Ltd, a Belgravium Technologies PLC company and specialists in the design, supply and support of rugged mobile computers, has announced the release of the TouchPC Hawk III.
Designed for the harshest environments, the Hawk III IP65 rating provides full protection against dust, water and oil ingress. It has full compliance with the ATEX IECEx directive, allowing safe use in potentially explosive environments, such as fuel distribution. The Hawk III can also withstand drops of up to 1.5m on to concrete and operate in temperatures of -20o C to +50o C, marking it as the most rugged terminal in its class.
In a unique move, TouchStar has incorporated Sorbothane material into the Hawk III design to protect the device from drops and vibration from rough road surfaces. Sorbothane deforms to disperse shock waves laterally, immediately returning to its initial form so it can be fully operational within seconds . This eliminates shockwaves and vibration that can damage electronic components and reduce the lifespan of an electronic device.

The Hawk III is designed to be multi functional. It’s vehicle mount utilises an innovative quick release mechanism to allow uses to detach it quickly for mobile usage either inside or outside the cab. The integration of GPS and GPRS functionality combines with the dynamic data collection capabilities. There is the option of a high-resolution imager, 3-megapixel camera. The Hawk III also includes a high-speed 1GHz processor to deliver further productivity and efficiency gains.
The Hawk III runs on the established Windows, Embedded Compact 7 Operating System. The device has a high impact 7” polycarbonate touchscreen that can be operated when wearing gloves.
